In a world of uncertainty, there’s one thing you can always be sure of- new Alter Bridge music will rock, and rock hard. The 4-piece alt-metal supergroup has proven time and time again that they can create radio-friendly heavy tunes that are loaded with crunchy riffs, tasty guitar licks, pummeling rhythm patterns, and scorching solos, courtesy of six-string Spartan Mark Tremonti.

Their upcoming sixth LP, Walk the Sky, is due October 18th, and the lead single, “Wouldn’t You Rather”, dropped on June 28th. The video, which can be viewed below, begins with a heavily distorted middle-eastern riff reminiscent of a sitar on steroids. Frontman and rhythym guitarist Myles Kennedy adds some lead fills to a punishing riff dropped by Tremonti. Known for possessing one of the most celebrated voices in modern rock music, Kennedy adds an urgency to these lyrics that encourage living an authentic life and the dangers of chasing money instead of dreams. He warns against unbridled ambition for wealth and power and the joyless reality it will yield, a powerful sentiment set to formidable music. His words are a breath of fresh air and welcome reprieve from our hyper-materialistic technological dystopia. Bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott “Flip” Phillips, a proven foundation for solid rockmanship since the days of Creed, once again provide unsung brilliance and balance to a standout Alter Bridge single. A good rhythm section is worth its weight in gold, and that makes this a very wealthy band in the talent department. Tremonti, one of the few guitar heroes left in an ever-changing musical landscape, delivers the goods with a furious solo that never takes away from the song while still using his signature half-cocked wah and metal-inspired style to set the track on fire!

“Wouldn’t You Rather” is an exciting sneak peek into what promises to be another venture into new territory for one of the most dependably great bands around, and we can’t wait to hear more! Give the new single a spin, check out the video, and peep the new tour dates on the Victorious Sky Tour 2019 with Skillet and Dirty Honey.
